ABOUT THE IMAGE
C3/2020 F3 - Neowise
These images are basically the result of a quick turnaround while I was outside in the backyard collecting data on NGC 6888. I saw Neowise and thought I could quickly jump in the car to get some wide field shots of it while the big rig was doing an automated session – and so I did.
Some 20 minutes later I arrived at the historic “Schwebefähre” to snap some first shots. Unfortunately, the ferry was not illuminated so it only appeared as a dark structure in the foreground, when suddenly around 1am some construction workers turned up to set up a crane on a boat and switched on their crazy bright contruction lights. There it was, beautifully illuminated from one side and I would’ve loved to buy those workers a beer. 🙂
Next stop was “Caroline“, an old windmill just on the river bank of river Oste in Hechthausen. Same problem with the light, so the first 30-40 images I took were okay, but not great. This was when the moon started to rise behind the forests and some minutes later Caroline started to seperate from the dark forest background and rewarded me with this beautiful composition above.
A night to remember.
