About the Image

NGC 7635 - The Bubble Nebula

This was a hard one, but also a lot of fun and a steep learning curve. After having finished all H-Alpha exposures in October 2020, I faced almost 4 straight months of cloudy skies. Just when I was entering a state of “I don’t even care anymore”, there were 3 clear nights approaching in february 2021, which I used to shoot the missing OIII and SII data on this beauty of a deep sky object.

I decided to go for a SHO/Hubble Palette process on this project, because it just gives so much depth to the image. Check the wider crop below to also find the Messier 52 cluster in the top right corner.

This image also marks my first publication. German astronomy and science magazine Spektrum der Wissenschaft – Sterne und Weltraum was kind enough to print it in their 4/2021 issue.
